Job Description:  

Director, C&Q will architect and execute strategic plan for expanding integrated risk-based C&Q services in California and  Texas. In this role, the Director, C&Q will make decisions in areas that may impact the organization and its employees,  clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs. To achieve operational excellence, you  and your team will need to deliver a service(s) timely where the voice of the customer is defined and prioritized and  incorporated into the final service outcome. This role uses years of managerial experience in planning and executing  documented C&Q strategies to enhance and promote VEQTOR’s approach to integrated risk-based C&Q and help achieve  client’s Quality Systems compliance. 

These are the key functions this role will have direct accountability for:  

  • Establish and accelerate C&Q footprint to meet business objectives,
  • Help to identify and analyze pharma and biotech landscape to target our services,
  • Establish team of C&Q engineers that will support project services,
  • Manage regional C&Q project delivery teams,
  • Identify key clients and CAPEX project opportunities,
  • Provide senior leadership team with recommendations to accomplish program objectives and execute strategic initiatives based on thorough research and analysis,
  • Make fact-based recommendations based on market conditions,
  • Facilitate client’s meetings with client’s C&Q management,
  • Ensure successful outcomes from client’s meetings by following up with key decision makers, Lead sales during RFP through technical customer engagement,
  • Enable and drive key relationships (i.e., business, etc.),
  • Utilize strong strategic mindset and capabilities, and executive presence to drive recommendations with top level management and staff

This role will directly report into Managing Director.  

Essential Job Functions & Duties

Strategy, Coaching & Mentorship, Business Development 

  • Develop, lead and oversee the West Coast C&Q group to support VEQTOR’s business long term goals Accountable for providing a planned, documented, and managed VEQTOR’s approach to the risk-based  commissioning, qualification testing (post-construction turnover) of combined validated systems, including  equipment and control systems 
  • Mentor and coach VEQTOR’s and Client’s C&Q, Automation, Engineering, and Quality organizations in effective,  efficient, sustainable, and compliant use of risk-based strategies described in ASTM E2500 and ISPE Baseline Vol 5  Commissioning and Qualification, Volume 2. Help to ensure compliance with the Client’s Corporate quality  guidelines. Conduct monthly and quarterly interviews and maintain a close client relationship with client’s top level management 
  • Represent VEQTOR organization and promote VEQTOR approaches and best practices to integrated risk-based  C&Q (IRBCQ) and utilization of Kneat paperless in trade shows, industry’s discussions, seminars, etc., Support VEQTOR’s implementation of Kneat Gx+ platform for client specific projects 
  • Oversee development and maintenance of VEQTOR’s FUE C&Q templates. Collaborate with C&Q and Automation  Compliance on integrated C&Q templates and lifecycle documents
  • Develop a business plan to monitor budgets, performance, and utilization and provide periodic reporting  structure for the Management 
  • Lead VEQTOR’s sales efforts on the West Coast by leading C&Q and Kneat Paperless sales presentations,  estimates, and proposals 
  • Align and incorporate new team members through coaching and/or other orientation practices Enhance employees’ skills, performance, and development by developing and promoting VEQTOR training  programs so that adherence to specifications is ensured and work of the highest quality prevails. Work with  VEQTOR’s Training & Development group 
  • Develop ways to continually improve VEQTOR’s personnel’s technical, commercial, and organizational knowledge  and skills 
  • Manage C&Q personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff  members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities, and timely performance  feedback 
  • Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across all business  lines, functions, and locations 
  • Analyze situations, identify, and forecast pertinent problems, evaluate realistic options, and  recommend/implement appropriate course of action. Utilize VEQTOR’s CAR process for continuous improvement Lead development of VEQTOR’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies and those of the  Clients Site EHS programs and determine which to follow in the event of a discrepancy between the two programs 

Client Specific Project(s) 

  • Accountable for development and management of the commissioning and qualification approach, budget, scope,  R&R, and deliverables for greenfield projects 
  • Accountable for development and maintain the system centric integrated commissioning and qualification  schedule; control all costs associated with commissioning and qualification labor and equipment; develop a  commissioning and qualification plan; and integrate activities and deliverables with ongoing operations,  construction management (if present), and commissioning and qualification with multiple parties 
  • Participate in any Client project risk management reviews and follow up for mitigation planning and execution Establish internal commissioning and qualification procedures for new systems and continue re-validation efforts  on existing systems 
  • Manage the work to the terms of the contract by eliminating leakage and optimizing returns Manage risk as assigned by the joint Risk Assessment for systems, project management, and or site management  by reviewing risk on a regular basis and identifies significant business risk for the project(s) 
  • Communicate commissioning roles and scope for members of project teams 
  • Fulfill contract requirement by ensuring that the duties and responsibilities of the project contract are clearly  defined, documented, and followed by the VEQTOR team 
  • Prepare project specific staffing plans including man-hour estimates 
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set  priorities, and meet the critical time deadline

  • B.S. in Science or Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical and biotech sectors preferred • 9+ years of experience as a people manager
